Q. What most draws you to outdoor adventuring?

S.B. I love seeing things that I haven’t seen before, then putting my own twist to the way I see these new beautiful things.

Q. What does ‘outdoor photography’ mean to you?

S.B. Going to the extremes to capture that one shot of whatever it is at the perfect time when the light is just right.

Q. What first drew you to photography—and how did you discover it?

S.B. I was drawn to photography after failing to be a musician. I wanted to still be a part of the music industry, so I focused on photographing it.

Q. What do you think makes a memorable adventure photograph?

S.B. Surrounding yourself with good people to enjoy the adventure with.

Q. How does black and white vs color play into your work? Do you find them to be totally separate beasts—or complementary?

S.B. There is nothing I love more than I good black and white photograph. However, I find in nature that there are textures and colors you can‘t quite capture with black and white.
